KNOXVILLE (WATE) – The Knoxville Police Department said a man was shot after he exchanged gunfire with a second vehicle.

Officers said they responded to the 2700 block of Linden Avenue at around 5:00 p.m. Wednesday for a reported shooting. Jevess Craigmire, 18, was dropped off near an ambulance parked in the Fort Sanders area Wednesday night, according Darrell DeBusk, with the Knoxville Police Department.

DeBusk said a loaded handgun with blood was recovered in the middle of the street, near where Craigmire was dropped-off. He says Craigmire was transported to University of Tennessee Medical Center for treatment.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, according to DeBusk. No other information has been released at this time.
