17 injured in East Tennessee church bus accident

CLEVELAND (WTVC) – A church bus in Cleveland, Tennesssee crashed, sending the driver and 16 juvenile passengers, all injured, to the hospital.

The Cleveland Police Department told WTVC the passengers of the bus have been taken to Skyridge Hospital. Cleveland Police Spokeswoman Evie West says the bus was from South Carolina, on an annual mission trip with Ocoee Outreach.

West said the small passenger bus left the roadway and came to a halt after hitting a drain culvert.  Emergency personnel transported injured passengers by EMS, personal vehicles and a SETHRA bus.

Six of the passengers are being treated and the remaining eleven passengers will be evaluated.
