Knox County teen asks for donations to Horse Haven instead of birthday presents

Lauren Fannon

KNOXVILLE (WATE) – A Knox County teen decided for her birthday, she wanted to help animals in need. Lauren Fannon turned 13 Wednesday and invited all her friends and classmates from Christian Academy of Knoxville to a pool party at the Fox Den Country Club.

Instead of presents, she asked them to give money to Horse Haven of Tennessee. Lauren says she is a longtime horseback rider.

“They always make me happy. Whenever I’ve had a sad day, I’ll go out to the barn and they’ll cheer me up. They’re really good animals and they’re just amazing,” she said.

Lauren says as soon as she’s old enough, she hopes to volunteer at Horse Haven. Around $500 was raised at the party.
