Austin-East head football coach suspended for allegedly not supervising students during practice

KNOXVILLE (WATE) – Austin-East High School head football coach Jeffrey Phillips is on administrative leave with pay after allegations that he didn’t properly supervise students at football practice.

Knox County Schools spokesperson Melissa Ogden says Phillips was placed on leave on April 23. The incident was reported to the Department of Children’s Services and an investigation is underway.

Ogden did not release any other details. Phillips has been head coach since 2013.
