Authorities: Injuries after stage collapse at Indiana school

WESTFIELD, Ind. (AP) – Authorities in central Indiana say an unknown number of people are injured after a stage collapse at a public high school.

Matt Layton, shift supervisor at the Hamilton County emergency dispatch center, says the stage collapsed Thursday night during an event at Westfield High School.

Layton says authorities on the scene have reported an unknown number of injures, including at least two that were “fairly serious.”

He says there were no immediate reports of fatalities.

Sara Camden told TV station WTHR the collapse occurred at the end of a performance of “American Pie.”

Camden says most of the students were able to walk out on their own.

Calls to the school and school district rang unanswered Thursday night.

Westfield is about 20 miles north of Indianapolis.
