SEVIERVILLE (WATE) – Dozens of stores were looking to fill hundreds of openings in Sevierville Wednesday.
Tanger Outlets hosted a job fair with more than 40 of the stores there participating. Total, there are about 1,000 job openings. As businesses head into the busy summer season, store managers said they need as many people as they can get.
“It’s crazy! We have so many tourists in a year. It’s usually about 12,000 that come in and shop with us, and it’s usually back-to-back parking,” said Merrell Shoe Store General Manager Soynia Smith. In anticipation of all those shoppers, more than 40 of the stores set out tables ready to welcome in hundreds of new employees.
“We are very excited to be able to offer that many jobs in Sevier County. There are so many great attractions in the area as well that offer some great jobs. We’re just glad to be a part of that,” said Tanger Outlets General Manager Angela Harness.
The jobs vary from seasonal and part-time, to full-time and even some management. “Right now we’re actually looking for sales associates and key holders and anyone that’s willing to move up in the company,” said Smith.
Tanger holds jobs fairs twice a year, once before the busy summer season, and again before the holiday shopping begins. They said if you cannot make it out for the fair, there are still ways to find a job.
“We will have a list at our mall office at shoppers services detailing all of the stores that are participating and then there maybe some on top of the ones that couldn’t participate today,” said Harness.
