Secretary Hargett presents grant checks in Claiborne and Grainger Counties

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) – Secretary of State Tre Hargett along with Rep. Jerry Sexton (R-Bean Station) presented grant checks in Claiborne and Grainger Counties on Friday.

Lincoln Memorial University library was given $3,000 to address cleanup efforts for a mold outbreak

The Claiborne County Archives received $2,500 for archival folders and supplies while the Grainger County Archives received $1,250 for computer and software upgrades.

“I’m thankful this $6,750 in grants will benefit precious resources for the citizens of my district,” said Sen. Frank S. Niceley of Strawberry Plains.

“Preserving our libraries and archives are crucial for future generations to know the incredible impact Claiborne and Grainger Counties have had on Tennessee history,” said Sexton.

Friday morning’s events were part of a two-day trip where the Hargett presented more than $13,000 in grants to upgrade museums, archives and libraries across Tennessee.
