GREENE COUNTY (WATE) – Search crews located three missing hikers in Greene County.
WJHL reports that a man, woman and 6-year-old child were located in the Hurricane Gap section of the Cherokee National Forest. Crews said the hikers are in good condition and have refused medical care.
Search and rescue crews, including a medical helicopter, were dispatched after the man called 9-1-1 on a cell phone saying his party was lost while hiking. Attempts to call the hikers back were unsuccessful.
Searchers were able to find the family’s van. The family was located about two miles from the van in a mountainous section of the forest.
Search crews have not been able to confirm where the hikers are from or how they are related.
