Knoxville Orchestra kicks off free music series in Market Square

KNOXVILLE (WATE) – Spring is in the air and the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra and Knoxville Jazz Orchestra are back for their annual free music series in Downtown Knoxville.

‘Jazz Tuesday’ and ‘Variety Thursday’ concerts will begin in the second week of May in Market Square. All concerts are free and parking is free after 6:00 p.m. at the city-owned Market Square and Locust Street garages.

Jazz Tuesdays will last from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m. each week from May 12 to August 25. The series will feature the Marble City 5, led by trumpeter Thompson.

The Variety Thursdays concert series will run 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. through June 25. It includes a sampling of genres from classical music to Southern rock to swing and Americana.


  • May 7: Knoxville Symphony Chamber Orchestra (7:30 p.m.)
  • May 14: Homemade Wine
  • May 21: FourKast
  • May 28: Jazz Time Swing Ensemble
  • June 4: The Coveralls
  • June 11: Old City Buskers
  • June 18: Knoxville’s Finest Band
  • June 25: Kelsey’s Woods
