Knoxville College halts classes for fall semester

KNOXVILLE (WATE) – Knoxville College will not be offering classes for the first semester of next year.

Reverend James Reese, the Chairman of the Knoxville College, said the board has decided they need to regroup and take a fresh look at how to provide the best possible education.

The historically black college has a rich history in the community, but over the last decade has had several problems including crumbling buildings and losing accreditation.

Reese said the college may take a new approach to the classes they offer, but they will not consider closing their doors. He said a letter will go out to the alumni body later this week.
