Men armed with rifle attempt to rob West Knox County pizza shop

KNOXVILLE (WATE) – The Knox County Sheriff’s Office arrested two men on Sunday night who were responsible for attempting to rob Marco’s Pizza in West Knox County on Saturday.

The suspects, 18-year-old John Henry Hearns III of Knoxville and a juvenile were charged with aggravated robbery.

The two men wearing all black, one armed with a knife and the other with an AR-15 type rifle, entered the Shell gas station on North Campbell Station Road around 10 p.m.on Sunday night, according to Knox County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators say one man wore a “Scream” mask and the other had a shirt wrapped around his face and head robbed the store with an undetermined amount of cash.

Deputies later spotted the men traveling on Hardin Valley Road near Pellissippi Parkway shortly after the robbery.

Officers say the initiated a traffic stop and saw the rifle, mask and loose money in the vehicle.


Hearns is being held at the Roger D. Wilson Facility on a $10,000 bond.
