Blount County non-profit provides service dogs for vets

MARYVILLE (WATE) – Smokey Mountain Service Dogs organization aims to make the lives of veterans with disabilities enhanced by providing trained service dogs.

The organization provides specifically matched service dogs to match veterans needs with the ability of the service dog.

Volunteers help raise the puppies and socialize them. The dogs train for at least three years before being placed with a veteran.
Founded in 2010, the organization has no paid administrative staff and 95 percent of donations go directly towards training canine companions.
