Heels and Wheels Duathlon and 5K raises money for local nonprofits

KNOXVILLE (WATE) – Runners, bikers and walkers from across the region support nonprofit organizations by participating in the Wells Fargo Heels and Wheels Duathlon and 5K.

This year’s race will be held on April 18 at Johnson University at 9:30 a.m. Registration begins at 8 a.m.

Participants have three options: a duathlon consisting of a 5K run, 18K bik, 3K run, a 5K run, or a Fun Walk.  have an option to compete and help their favorite nonprofit raise funds.

Heels and Wheels will also feature family-friendly activities, lunch and awards.

For the past five years, the duathlon has raised more than $250,000 for community organizations include Friends of Literacy, Girls on the Run of Greater Knoxville and Knoxville Center of the Deaf.
