4 high school students charged with burglarizing Seymour schools

SEYMOUR (WATE) – Four Seymour High School students face charges after two Seymour schools were found burglarized early Sunday morning.

The Sevier County Sheriff’s Office says they received a call Monday morning from Seymour Intermediate School about a burglary over the weekend. Officers found someone had broken into the school through a door in the kitchen area and stole several food items and around $3 in change.

Officers then went to Seymour High School, which had also been burglarized. Someone came in through a window and took calculators, $30 from the library and other items.

Surveillance video from both schools showed four people were involved that school officials and school resource officers identified as Seymour High School students. Two were in class at Seymour High at the time, one was at the Hardin Alternative Learning Center and the fourth was at home.

All four juveniles gave deputies incriminating statements and deputies determined the burglaries happened around 2 a.m. Sunday morning. All four were taken to the Sevier County Juvenile Center. A hearing date will be set later.
