KNOXVILLE (WATE) – The University of Tennessee women’s basketball team beat the University of Pittsburgh in the second round of the women’s NCAA tournament on Monday night. The final score, 77-67.
“That’s what you do when you get to this point,” said Lady Vols Head Coach Holly Warlick. “You battle and you play hard and we’re happy and thrilled that we’re moving on.”
This win brings the Lady Vols to the Sweet 16 for the 33rd time.
“We don’t take it for granted. Half of the teams aren’t playing anymore and the fact that we got to end this season undefeated at home, send out seniors out with their last game at Thompson-Boling Arena as a win and we’re moving on. It’s a good feeling,” said guard Andraya Carter.
The Lady Vols will take on Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington on March 28. The time and television information have not been released.
