TULSA, Okla. (WATE/KTUL) – A family formerly from Knoxville was at the center of a tragic police standoff Thursday afternoon in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Bryon Creech is accused of shooting and killing his own son during a 17 hour standoff with police.
Officers say they were called out because of a violation of a protective order.
Police say they went out Thursday afternoon and the standoff did not end until Friday morning.
They say Creech surrendered, but only after killing his son, Braydon, early on in the standoff.
Tulsa police tell WATE 6 On Your Side that the boy’s mother told them the family had moved from Knoxville to Tulsa.
The boy’s mother filed for a protective order in July of 2014 and the very next day, she filed for divorce, according to court records.
The couple was supposed to return to court in July.
