Barbecue lunch next week in Knoxville to benefit Mobile Meals

KNOXVILLE (WATE) – A barbecue lunch is being held next week in North Knoxville to help Mobile Meals feed local seniors in need.

The lunch is being held at Oakwood Senior Living, 232 E. Churchwell Avenue, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 26.

Admission is $7 and 100 percent of the proceeds go to Mobile Meals. One donation is enough to feed two seniors for a day.

Those who attend will get a lunch from the BBQ Doctor with all the trimmings: pork BBQ, bun, coleslaw, pickle slices, fresh-baked docake, chips, cookie, and beverage. The meals are packaged to go, but there is limited seating available on site. Delivery is available to groups of 10 or more within a 10 mile radius of the senior center.

Mobile Meals feeds 825 seniors each weekday. BBQ Doctor is an award-winning barbecue team, which is an outreach of Senior Solutions Management Group.
