Opry Mills owners receive $200M for flood damages

Opry Mills (WKRN)

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Insurers have been ordered to pay the owners of Opry Mills $200 million for damages caused by the May 2010 flood.

After the flood destroyed much of the mall, the owners filed an insurance claim to cover their losses. The maximum payout was $200 million, but the insurers offered $50 million.

The dispute over the payout led to a court battle that lasted five years.

The legal battle ended on Friday after Davidson County chancellor Russel T. Perkins ruled in favor of the mall and its owners.
