KNOXVILLE (WATE) – Registration is still open for a Knoxville 5k through the Old City that will benefit Emily’s Power for a Cure.
The 5k is Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Barley’s Pizzeria in the Old City. Sign-up is available from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m Saturday and noon to 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Barley’s located at 200 E. Jackson Avenue in Knoxville.
There is a thirty-five dollar entry fee that includes a t-shirt, two free beers and a pizza buffet.
“It’s our third year doing this,” said organizer Erin Morrison, “and every year we do this it seems to get bigger and bigger.”
Morrison said they currently have 215 people registered, but they would love to have more.
Emily’s power for a cure was started in honor of Emily Ransom a little girl who died of Neuroblastoma in February of 2006. Her family started a foundation, Emily’s Power for a Cure, to help other kids with neurblastoma.
The group is also holding a benefit at Barley’s on April 4. The benefit starts at 7:00 p.m. and all proceeds go towards Emily’s Power for a Cure.
