Volunteer Energy Cooperative continues to make progress on outages

JAMESTOWN (WATE) – Volunteer Energy Cooperative said they have made substantial progress restoring power in the Cumberland Plateau.

The power provider said system-wide about 1,085 customers are without power

At its peak, the power provider reported 40,000 outages throughout their coverage area.

Previous story: Over 30,000 without power in Cumberland and Fentress counties

Five hundred additional crews from Sequachee Valley Electric Cooperative, Upper Cumberland Electric Membership Corporation, Caney Fork Electric Cooperative were bought in to help over one hundred crews working to restore power.

Total outages by county:

  • Cumberland County: 622
  • Fentress County: 11
  • Overton County: 205
  • Putnam County: 85
  • White: 160
