SEYMOUR (WATE) – The Seymour Volunteer Fire Department conducted an American flag retirement ceremony with a local Trail Life USA troop earlier this week, and is asking anyone with worn or tattered flags to help retire them honorably.

Over 50 people from ages 7 to 70 took part in the event Monday night.

“Patriotism is a value that our department stands for.” Explained John Linsenbigler, Executive Administrator, “We want to teach our core values as well as fire safety to all of our citizens, especially the young ones.”

Anyone with worn or tattered flags can bring them to any Seymour Volunteer Fire Department station to be retired honorably.
