OAK RIDGE (WATE) – The Oak Ridge Police Department says it has arrested a suspect wanted for weeks on accusations he fled several times from officers who tried to stop his vehicle.
Marvin J’von Slater faces a long list of charges including drug possession, reckless endangerment, driving on a suspended or revoked license, evading arrest, aggravated assault and failure to appear.
Police say he fled from officers on several occasions, blatantly disregarding traffic laws and endangering officers, the general public and himself.
Officers decided they had to use selective tactics to arrest Slater without putting themselves or anyone else in danger.
Using specialized technical means, including fixed and mobile surveillance, officers were able to arrest Slater Tuesday at the BP gas station on S. Illinois Avenue around 4:30 p.m.
Two other people were also arrested, which resulted in the seizure of marijuana, crack cocaine and a vehicle.
