One dead, two injured in Blount County crash

ALCOA (WATE) – A Maryville woman was killed and two more people were injured in a wreck in Blount County Friday afternoon.

The Alcoa Police Department says the accident happened at 1:47 on Sam Houston School Road near Mt. Lebanon Road.

Officers say a 59-year old Maryville woman, with a three-year old boy passenger, was driving a Jeep west on Sam Houston School road when she crossed the center line and struck a Dodge Ram driven by a 45-year old Knoxville man.

The woman was pronounced dead as a result of the crash, and the boy was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center with what’s being called non-life threatening injuries.

The Knoxville man was taken to Blount Memorial Hospital also with non life threatening injuries, and another Knoxville man, was riding with him, and refused medical treatment.

Officers say the Maryville woman, and child, were both wearing their seatbelts, and the two Knoxville men were not.

The names of the victims have not been released.
