Morristown man builds ‘Hobbit House’

MORRISTOWN (WATE) – From television shows to entire movements, the tiny house trend is on the rise in the real estate world. Now one man is hoping to use his construction skills to take tiny houses to the next level.

Randy Jones worked on log cabins for years. Now he’s downsizing to custom-made hobbit houses. His first creation is located in Morristown, Tennessee.

From the eyebrow windows to the ivy covered roof and the round door, you can see the hobbit-like detail throughout the house.

“Normally you have straight edges and lines,” said Jones, but “in a hobbit there is nothing straight. Everything is curved and round.”

The inside of the house is just as unique.

The hobbit house is only ten feet by twenty feet, but there are plenty of nooks and storage and modern amenities.

Once inside you will find shelves made from Tennessee pine, a washer/dryer combo, a  fridge and more.

Jones and his investment partner would like to make tiny home construction a full time job. He says he will ship his custom creations anywhere in the United States.
