One killed, two injured in tractor-trailer crash in Scott Co.

ONEIDA (WATE) – One person is killed in a tractor-trailer crash in Scott County overnight.

Tennessee Highway Patrol Troopers tell us Charles Hamby,63, of Knoxville, was driving a 2005 Kenworth tractor-trailer that was carrying auto parts north on Highway 27 just before 1:30 a.m. Saturday.

Troopers say Hamby had two people traveling with him, Johnathan Brumagen, 34, and Joaquin Sanchez, 29, both of Somerset, Ky.

According to the report, Hamby drove off the shoulder of the roadway, went down an embankment, and struck a tree.

Brumagen was killed, Hamby and Sanchez were injured.

Troopers say it is not known whether Brumagen was wearing his seat belt, but Hamby was and Sanchez was not.
