Woman hit by car, pushed through glass store front at Knox County convenience store

KNOXVILLE (WATE) – A woman was injured in front of a West Knox County convenience store Monday morning when she was hit by a car and pushed through the glass store front.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office says Mary Cruze, 78, told officers she stepped on the brake of her 2001 Lincoln Continental around 11:19 a.m. at the Weigel’s, 12001 Kingston Pike, but it accelerated instead.

Store employee Dovelene Damron, 64, was standing in front of the store on a break when she was hit by the car and pushed through the glass.

She and Cruze were both taken by Rural/Metro to UT Medical Center. No charges will be filed.
