ALCOA (WATE) – An Oak Ridge man remains in critical condition Tuesday after a crash in Alcoa that resulted in the death of his son.
Joseph Eatherly, 61, was taken to UT Medical Center after the crash. His son, Eric Eatherly, 35, of Hixson, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash happened around 6:37 a.m. Monday when police say Joseph Eatherly tried to make a U-turn from the right hand turn lane at Airport Hilton on Alcoa Highway.
Witnesses say his 2012 Chevrolet Corvette was then hit by a 2004 Ford Escape driven by Beth Beard, 48. Beard received non-life threatening injuries.
Neither Joseph nor Eric Eatherly were wearing seat belts. The investigation is ongoing.
