Man killed in Highway 411 wreck near Blount/Loudon line

I-40E closed after Knox County crash
TDOT says multiple vehicles crashed near mile marker 370.

GREENBACK (WATE) – A Maryville man was killed in a crash involving a semi and a car that shut down 411 on Thursday morning.

The accident happened near Brick Mill Road, close to the Blount/Loudon County line, according to Tennessee Department of Transportation.

Troopers say a tractor trailer driven by Mark Pennington, 47, was going northbound around 7:18 a.m. when a 2007 Toyota Corolla driven by Joshua Matthews, 18, veered into the northbound lanes, hitting the tractor trailer.

Matthews was killed in the crash. Pennington was not injured.

No charges are expected to be filed against the truck driver.
