KNOXVILLE (WATE) – An eight-year-old Knox County student says he has the answer to save lives on school buses.
After hearing about the fatal bus accident on Tuesday, Anderson Jones decided to write a letter to the government asking for seat belts on buses.
Anderson says he rides the school bus and wants everyone to be safe.
“Well, I was kind of interested. Why did the bus driver wear a seat belt, when we couldn’t?,” he said. “If the bus got into a crash, he would be find, but we wouldn’t and I just got kid of nervous about that.”
Anderson asked his mother to help him send the letter to the superintendent of Knox County School Dr. Jim McIntyre and even some political leaders.
Anderson is a student at Bricky McCloud Elementary.
The letter reads:
Buses have been crashing a lot. Some children have been going to the hospital and some have been dying. Now you might think that buses are big and strong and can’t crash that bad but they can. Can we start putting seat belts? If you guys say no, it might not be that wise. I think you should say yes. Kids lives are in danger. Thank you for reading this. Thank you.
