Two families displaced following two Thanksgiving house fires

HARDIN VALLEY (WATE) – Rural/Metro officials were on the scene for two houses fires in the Hardin Valley area and East Knoxville Thursday morning.

One of the fires occurred on Couch Mill Road, and the other took place on Babelay Road.

Babelay Road was called in at 4:38 a.m. and Couch Mill Road was called in to authorities at 4:49 a.m. Thursday.

Crews told 6 On Your Side the backside of the house located on Babelay Road in East Knoxville caught fire. One person was inside the home, but the fire woke him up and he is said to be all right. The home has been deemed a total loss. The Red Cross has been notified.

Couch Mill Road in Hardin Valley has been shut down by firefighters for concerns over electric power lines cracking. 

A Facebook group and a YouCaring fundraiser page has been created to help the victims of the Couch Mill Road fire. The family includes a husband, wife and they have two children.

Girl – 5/6 T, 11/12 shoe
Boy – 2/3 T, 6/7 shoe
Woman – 4 or 6/medium or large, 6.5/7 shoe
Man – medium top, 32/30 pant,10.5 shoe
