CHATTANOOGA (WATE) – The Lady Vols fell to the Chattanooga Mocs Wednesday night for the second time in the last three seasons. It was Tennessee’s(4-1) second straight loss at Chattanooga’s McKenzie Arena follwing a nine point loss in 2012.
After a poor shooting first half, the Lady Vols were down by 16 at halftime before a furious comeback in the second half. Tennessee tied the game four seperate times late in the second half but Chattanooga pulled away thanks to four straight free throws to get the win over the fourth ranked Lady Vols.
“We have to go back and make rebounding and defense a priority,” said Lady Vol head coach Holly Warlick after the game. “Hopefully we have Izzy back. We have to commit to defense. Texas has great penetrators, like [Chattanooga,] but more athletic.”
The Lady Vols travel to take on sixth ranked Texas in Austin on Sunday.
