Source: DNA samples collected from UT football players named in rape investigation

KNOXVILLE (WATE) – DNA samples have been collected from two University of Tennessee football players named in a rape investigation, according to a law enforcement source.

The sample collection was the result of a search warrant executed this week.

The source says additional interviews have also been conducted with the alleged victims and others.

An initial report from the Knoxville Police Department obtained earlier this week says a 19-year-old woman claims A.J. Johnson and Michael Williams committed forcible rape against her at the Woodlands Apartment Complex in South Knoxville in the early morning hours of November 16.

A second woman said she was sexually assaulted by Williams at the same location but refused to press charges. Police say the alleged incident happened at a large party at the complex.

No charges have been filed against Johnson and Williams, but both have been suspended from all team activities.
