CROSSVILLE (WATE) – Tennessee Bureau of Investigation agents searched four businesses Wednesday as part of an investigation into organized prostitution and human trafficking. One person was arrested in Crossville. Two businesses were padlocked.
TBI agents received assistance from the Smyrna Police Department, Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department, Rockwood Police Department, Roane County Sheriff’s Office, 9th Judicial Drug Task Force, Athens Police Department, McMinn County Sheriff’s Department and Immigration Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations.
Officers searched C&K Spa, formerly QT Spa, 801 Peavine Road in Crossville and arrested Huichu Sandve, 46. She was charged with prostitution and booked into the Cumberland County Jail on $10,000 bond.
Agents questioned two people at Interstate Spa, 108 Ole Patton Lane in Rockwood, about prostitution and performing massages without a license.
Rainbow Spa, 295 Decatur Pike in Athens, was ordered padlocked by a judge. Two people were questioned about prostitution and performing massages without a license. Charges are anticipated.
Royal Therapy, 557 South Lowry Street in Smyrna, was also ordered padlocked. Charges are anticipated there as well.
QT Spa, Interstate Spa and Rainbow Spa were also the focus of a September 2013 investigation that resulted in the closure of spas and massage parlors in Middle and East Tennessee. Multiple people were arrested or issued citations.
While we were working on this story Thursday night, a man drove into the Interstate Spa parking lot after hours. He started walking toward the front door. When asked what he was doing, he said he came to get a massage and didn’t know about the investigation. He then said he had never been there before and immediately left.
We also spoke with a woman who lives in the same building as the C&K Spa in Crossville. She said she had no idea what was going on there.
“I think it’s crazy but I guess everybody has to make their living but I think it’s a little gross too,” said Linda, who doesn’t want her last name mentioned.
Linda says she thought it was strange the spa would often stay open late at night.
“Let’s hope this time they close them down for good, all of them if that’s what they’re doing and they can prove it, close them down.”
