KNOXVILLE (WATE) – A grand jury has indicted a former Karns High School teacher for statutory rape by an authority figure.
The Knox County Sheriff’s Office Family Crisis Unit says they arrested Jason Stone, 29, on Thursday at his home at 10948 Twin Harbour Drive in West Knox County.
The family crisis unit investigates cases involving domestic violence, child abuse and elder abuse.
Stone is being held at Roger D. Wilson Detention Facility on a $100,000 bond.
KCS spokesperson Melissa Ogden says Stone no longer works for the school system and his employment status was not renewed in May of this year.
Stone was formerly a physical education teacher at Karns High School.
