KNOXVILLE (WATE) – A magical world is taking over the Knoxville Civic Coliseum this weekend, as Disney On Ice is in town presenting “Princesses and Heroes.”

“This show has everything. We have 10 different Disney princesses and heroes. It’s not just for girls, it’s for boys, too,” said Disney On Ice performer Sasha Kowal.

The show combines classic stories, like Sleeping Beauty, Snow White and the Little Mermaid, with new age tales, like Tangled, the Princess and the Frog and, of course, Frozen, which performers say is a fan favorite.

“The first time we did the show with Frozen in it I got chills from head to toe from the energy they were giving back to us during the performance. They sing and they dance and it’s fantastic,” said Kowal.

Throughout the two hour show, performers take guests to nine different magical Disney worlds, like Under the Sea for The Little Mermaid.

During the Little Mermaid performance, skaters showcase their acrobatic talents. It takes nearly 50 skaters to put the performance on and they travel to more than 30 countries across the globe.

From snowflakes and butterflies, to costumes covered in thousands of Swarovski crystals, Disney doesn’t miss a single dazzling detail.

“We have Frozen, which has these crazy fireworks going on and Elsa, her magical powers are going in all sorts of crazy directions, so it looks really impressive,” said Disney On Ice performer Kassy Kova.

The show runs Thursday, Nov. 6 through Sunday, Nov. 9. You can buy tickets online or by calling the box office (865) 215-8999.
