Hiker injured in Great Smoky Mountains National Park

GATLINBURG (WATE) – A hiker was injured Saturday in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, forcing first responders to launch a rescue mission.

Park officials say the initial report they received was that a fallen tree or branch injured the man. He is believed to have suffered injuries to his legs.

Workers say he was hiking through Greenbrier section of the park from the Ramsey Cascades trail head when the accident occurred.
