Suspect in Fort Sanders shooting taken into police custody

KNOXVILLE (WATE) – The suspect in a shooting in the Fort Sanders neighborhood has been taken into police custody.

The Knoxville Police Department says that 25-year-old Brandon Middlebrook was released from UT Medical Center Friday evening.

Police say Middlebrook was interviewed by investigators before being transported to the Knox County Jail.

Officials say they found Aundre Buford, 21, and Macee Peterkin, 21, both suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in an apartment near Highland Avenue and 13th Street on Tuesday night.

Police found Middlebrook with a gunshot wound a few blocks away from the residence.

Middlebrook faces several charges, including two counts of attempted first degree murder.

Police say the victims all knew each other prior to the shooting.
