Paula Deen opening restaurant in Pigeon Forge


PIGEON FORGE (WATE) – Paula Deen Ventures announced Wednesday is it opening a new restaurant and retail operation at The Island in Pigeon Forge called “Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen.”

The 20,000 square foot business has a projected design, construction and yearly operation budget of nearly $20 million and is scheduled to open in late summer 2014.

The project joins other hospitality and retail leaders at the family friendly real estate project including Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville Hotel. An observation wheel dubbed the Great Smoky Mountain Wheel is also in development.

Local developers Darby Campbell and Bob McManus will lead the Deen project.

McManus is also thedeveloper and operator of local restaurants such as Texas Roadhouse, LakesideTavern, Parkside Grill, Bullfish Grill, Mellow Mushroom and Timberwood Grill.
