KNOXVILLE (WATE) – A Georgia company said it is working on plans to buy the former Baptist Hospital.
Real estate developers Blanchard and Calhoun Commercial said they have entered into a contract for the Baptist building.
The company is not talking about what it plans to do with the property, which sits along the Tennessee River in South Knoxville.
The hospital closed in 2008, but some parts of the site are still in use.
A spokesman for Tennova’s parent company, Health Management Associates, which owns the property, says they have no knowledge of a contract.
Blanchard and Calhoun has other developments in the area like the Brooklawn Village shopping center in Farragut, home to a Kroger Marketplace store.
