MURFREESBORO (AP) — Kyrus Lanxter and Chris Shiverdecker each scored a pair of touchdowns to lead Alcoa Friday night with a 31-3 victory over Goodpasture.
This is the third straight TSSAA Class 2-A BlueCross Bowl championship for the Tornadoes, who went 13-2 this season, and their eighth state championship.
Alcoa scored on its first possession of the game when Randall Cobb connected with Lanxter for a 51-yard touchdown.
Goodpastures only score came on its first possession of the game.
The Cougars, who are 14-1, drove to Alcoas one before losing yards on second and third down. They settled for a 22-yard field goal from Clay Paul with 2:19 left in the period.
Goodpasture mounted a drive late in the quarter, aided by a late-hit out of bounds penalty.
On fourth down from the Alcoa eight, Goodpastures Coleman Stroud was stopped short of a first down.
Alcoa defeated Goodpasture for the second straight year in the title game. Last year the Tornadoes won 55-13.
